Heka Hanging screen Aero
Aero is a hanging screen that divides a space from the ceiling without closing it in. The PET felt panel hangs on steel cables of adjustable length, so you can place it exactly above a desk, a reception counter or a staircase.
Because it hangs free in the room, it absorbs from both sides and is more effective than a wall panel of the same area.
It suits open-plan offices with high ceilings, canteens, foyers and spaces where building services make it impossible to line the whole ceiling. On request we cut a pattern, slots or a company logo into it.

Technical data — Aero
Materials and construction
Material: 100 % polyester (PET felt), with at least 60 % recycled content from used bottles according to supplier data. The panels are fully recyclable.
Density: 9 mm approximately 1,900 g/m², 12 mm approximately 2,400 g/m², 24 mm from 3,500 to 4,000 g/m².
Fire classification: EN 13501-1, class B-s1,d0 as confirmed by the supplier (individual batches B-s2,d0 — the certificate for the specific batch is enclosed with the delivery).
Emissions: OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and REACH, free of formaldehyde, low emissions of volatile organic compounds.
Thicknesses: 12 and 24 mm. Suspension: steel cables with a height adjustable up to 1500 mm, the kit is included.
Acoustics and absorption
Hanging panel in PET felt: αs 0.15 / 0.45 / 0.65 / 0.85 / 1.10 / 1.25 at 125, 250, 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 Hz, NRC 0.75.
For freely suspended elements, project documentation does not state αw but the equivalent absorption area Aobj in m² per unit to ISO 354. That matters in a specification written for an architect, because it allows a simple sum based on the number of units.
An honest caveat: values above 1.00 at high frequencies are not an error, nor do they mean absorption above 100 per cent. They follow from the measuring method to ISO 354 for freely suspended elements, where the edges behave as additional surface. To judge the effect in a specific room, the figure that counts is Aobj and not αs.
The values given come from the data sheets for the PET felt, measured to ISO 354:2003 or ASTM C423-22 and classified to ISO 11654:1997. They apply to material of this thickness with the installation described. For a specific room we prepare a reverberation time calculation based on the floor plan.
Installation
A suspension kit with two steel cables and adjustable height is included with every panel.
Fixing: into a load-bearing ceiling or into the substructure of a suspended ceiling. Before installation, check the load capacity and the position in relation to light fittings, ventilation grilles and the sprinkler system.
Drop height: above workstations we normally set the bottom edge of the panel 400 to 600 mm above the eye level of a seated person, so that it breaks the path of sound between two neighbouring groups.
With several panels in a row, plan a spacing that matches the grid of the light fittings, otherwise the panels cast shadows across the work surfaces.
Care and cleaning
In normal use felt needs no special care. Vacuum it regularly with an upholstery nozzle or clean it with a soft brush, roughly twice a year.
Remove individual stains with a slightly damp cloth and a mild detergent, then let the surface air-dry. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, solvents or steam cleaners.
A damaged panel can be replaced on its own, so there is no need to renew the whole pattern.
Delivery and lead times
Standard sizes: production and delivery 2 to 3 weeks.
Made to measure: 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the scope of the order.
Delivery: Slovenia and the EU with our own transport or through a forwarder. For larger projects we agree on floor-by-floor delivery and an installation schedule.
Returns: 14 days for standard products in accordance with the law. Made-to-measure products are excluded.

Acoustics are settled at the design stage, not at handover. We send architects and specifiers data sheets, an absorption calculation for the actual floor plan and drawings to place in the project.

Frequently asked questions
Which thickness should I choose?
12 mm is enough when the aim is a visible division of the space and calmer high frequencies. Choose 24 mm in rooms with a lot of speech, because it covers more of the speech range.
How high should the panel hang?
The bottom edge normally sits 400 to 600 mm above the eye level of a seated person. A panel hung too high breaks too few direct paths of sound, while one hung too low blocks the view across the room.
Can you cut out our logo?
Yes, from a drawing in vector format. We price the cutting and the preparation in the quotation, as both depend on how complex the pattern is.
Can it be installed on a suspended ceiling?
Yes, provided the substructure carries the load. With grid ceilings we fix into the bearing profile or through the tile into the ceiling above it.
How many panels do I need?
That depends on the area and the height of the room. In an open-plan office you normally start with one panel per work group, and with a row of panels above the corridors. Send the floor plan to sales@heka-interior.com.
Does the panel affect the lighting?
It can, if it sits directly under a light fitting. That is why we match the spacing of the panels to the grid of the lights, which we check together with you when the order is placed.

What you get besides the product
Acoustics are a project, not an article number. So along with the panels you get a calculation, samples and someone to talk to who also makes the product.
Our own production
Cutting to size, edge finishing and final work take place in the Hit Preless production facility in Medvode, while the felt comes from suppliers we have tested. That is why a custom size is the rule here, not the exception.
Recycled PET felt
The material is made of recycled polyester, free of formaldehyde and low in emissions of volatile compounds. At the end of its life it is recyclable.
Honest figures
We publish absorption both without an air gap and with one. The difference between the two classes comes from the installation, not from a figure in an advertisement.

Heka Interior is a brand of Hit Preless, a company from Medvode. In the same facility where bespoke furniture for offices and hotels is made, we also produce acoustic linings. That is why special sizes, lengths and versions are feasible even in small batches.
