How to choose an office chair
A good office chair adapts to you, not the other way round. Check these five things before you choose.
1. Ergonomics and adjustments
Set the seat height so that your feet rest flat on the floor and your knees are at an angle of roughly 90 degrees. Also look for adjustable seat depth, lumbar support and armrests that you can align with the height of your desk. The more adjustments a chair offers, the easier it is to fit it to different users.
2. Mechanism
A synchro mechanism tilts the seat and backrest in a coordinated way, so your back stays in contact with the backrest when you lean back. Active chairs have a moving seat that follows your body and encourages dynamic sitting. For conference chairs, which are used for shorter periods, a simpler mechanism or a fixed frame is often enough.
3. Backrest: mesh or upholstery
A mesh backrest lets air through, which makes it pleasant in warmer rooms and during longer sitting. An upholstered backrest is softer and gives the chair a more closed, formal look, which is why it is often chosen for executive offices and meeting rooms. Many models let you choose the fabric and colour.
4. Base and castors

How do I adjust the height of an office chair?
Sit all the way back on the seat and use the gas lift lever to lower or raise it until your feet rest flat on the floor and your knees are at an angle of roughly 90 degrees. Then adjust the armrests so that your forearms are parallel to the desk and your shoulders are relaxed. If your feet do not reach the floor, use a footrest.
Mesh or upholstered backrest?
A mesh backrest lets air through and suits warmer rooms and longer sitting. An upholstered backrest is softer and gives the chair a more formal look. If you are unsure, try the chair before you buy.

After the warranty expires, we offer a paid service in Medvode, for example replacing the gas lift, repairing the mechanism or fitting a new cover.
Which chair is suitable for children?
Our children's ergonomic chairs are designed for schoolchildren. You can adjust the seat and backrest height, so the chair can be adapted as your child grows. They are suitable from school age onwards.
